visa issuing problems!

Recent technological issues at Department of State has caused visa processing problems at the U.S. consular posts worldwide. DOS claims to have resumed at some posts certain work but most posts had earlier stopped issuing any visa or scheduling interview and biometrics processing because of inability to follow the legal requirements due to technology failure.

Foreign nationals and their families can not travel back to the United States because U.S. Consulates stopped issuing a new visa. The DOS officer at AILA’s Annual Conference suggested that the Consulate posts are willing to return the passports if the foreign nationals had a currently valid visa and would like to return to U.S. on that visa instead of waiting for the processing to restart and would treat any pending visa application as abandoned and denied.
